Abstract

The objective of this study was to build and apply a model of knowledge management maturity for a multinational food company from an emerging economy. As for the methodological aspects, a questionnaire was administered to approximately 3,000 employees in fourteen business units of a multinational company. In relation to the results, first, a model with four key areas was structured: strategy, culture, knowledge processes, and technology. Subsequently, it was determined that all key areas were in the managed level. However, further analysis of the variables showed development of the practices associated with the application of knowledge and soft aspects, such as culture and strategy, compared with those that related to knowledge creation and appropriation of information technology.
