Abstract

The development of a legal and regulatory framework to establish the right of citizens to accurate and sufficient information about their own illnesses and health education requires that their information needs be considered from the double perspective of patient education and consumer health. The objective of this article is to show the contribution of librarians in converting to reality this right, based on informational literacy in medical and health information resulting from the optimal use of information resources available in public and medical libraries and the expertise of library professionals.
