The identification of individuals on television using facial recognition biometrics can help the work of audiovisual documentation departments. Basic biometrics concepts are presented, as well as some of the biometrics software available. Opportunities and potential uses for onomastic information management with the aim to partially automate people´s identification in television archives are discussed.
