This essay on librarians´ roles uses some of the metaphors used to talk about books and the information world as its theoretical approach. The purpose is to justify the role of the librarian as beacon and specially as educator: to teach, to facilitate or to mediate in order to help people improve their information skills for life in the information world, become information literate, and live with other people, training them and still being among them. For that reason we invented a new Spanish word, "entrenauta", with which we synthesized this proposed role.
