Abstract

Analysis of the web sites of the Spanish municipal corporations and study of promoting of place brand websites on the Internet. We present results of monitoring the rankings on Google and Yahoo in 2009 from searches for city brand of the Spanish provincial capitals. The results indicate that 66% of the official web site are positioned after the number 40 and in 46% of searches by brand tourist province capital there is a official web site among the top 10 first positions. Moreover, empirical evidence has been detected about the weight of backlinks and keywords for SEO.
