Spanish newspapers circulation: paper vs. electronic editions
Keywords:
Periódicos digitales, periodismo electrónico, difusión, audiencia, InternetAbstract
This paper is focused on the analysis of newspapers circulation in the case of both have a "paper version" and a "free digital" version. Our goal is to observe if there is an existing relationship between both kinds of circulating press. If there is an exist relationship we want to know how it works, what their overall effects are, and if these effects create some form of "cannibalization". With this purpose we have studied the most relevant publications in Spain for general information (El Mundo), sports (Marca), and economic area (Expansión). Sources for extracting data are Introl, OJD and OJD Interactiva.. These data have been handled through a methodology based on descriptive statistics and monthly series, which start in June of 1998. This is the first date under control for electronic editions of these three newspapapers. Last month is December ´08 because since January ´09 OJD Interactiva modified its method of measuring. Including data generated since this date could introduce differences and affect the results.Downloads
